JT Powell
Founder | CEO
JT grew up in Northfork (Wv.), excelling in multiple sports and developing a passion for empowering athletes. He graduated from Bluefield High in 2007, earning a football scholarship from West Virginia State University. After a successful true freshman season with the Yellow Jackets, Powell decided to leave school to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams by opening his first business, a retail clothing store in Princeton (Wv.). He later achieved academic success, receiving his bachelor's degree in business from Bluefield State University in 2013 and his Master's in Business Administration from Liberty University in 2017. JT has served as a leadership development associate for Advantage Sales and Marketing, presenting new products for major brands like 3M, Energizer, Morton’s Salt, and Sargento. Additionally, he has coached at the collegiate level for Bluefield University as a tight-ends and defensive backs coach (2024-2025), focusing on athlete recruitment and development. Currently, he teaches and coaches at Bluefield Middle School.
Dennis Haley
General Manager
Is an NFL alumnus and Best Selling author of the book titled “The Playbook: The Art of Dreaming.” Haley overcame a challenging upbringing in the Salem, Virginia Community to become a business executive, serving in multiple leadership roles throughout the New River Valley. Growing up, Haley excelled in multiple sports in Salem, which laid the foundation for his future in athlete recruitment. He went on to have a standout football career at the University of Virginia. In the NFL, Haley signed with the New York Jets in 2005, then played for the Baltimore Ravens (2005-2007) and the San Francisco 49ers (2008). His journey reflects a commitment to empowering athletes from all backgrounds, including those in Appalachia Prep.
